A nightmare in Shangra-La

This book may be a true story, however Mitchell Zuckoff will such an incredible job of telling it that reads very like a unique in that it grabs you right from the start, and for me, was darn close to not possible to place down. Imagine happening a fly-over sight seeing tour of 1 of the foremost stunning mountain jungle areas within the world to ascertain an virtually hidden, untouched valley and then crashing into a mountain and being one in every of the few survivors making an attempt to search out the way out. however obtaining out or back to the bottom is not simple in a very place with no roads or methods, simply dense rain forest vegetation, an enormous tree cover and tangled vines each on top of and below you. Besides being such an honest scan, it added to my information of the history of WWII. With such a large amount of battles happening everywhere the globe, New Guinea is not an area that you just scan that a lot of regarding in history books on the war. This book tied lots of what was happening in that space along on behalf of me. There are various characters during this book besides simply the survivors and Zuckoff offers us the background stories on many of the rescuers and folks at the bottom camp also as a number of the politics of the time. He will it in such the way that it does not interrupt the most action, however rather adds to the insight and makes it that far more fascinating.
This would be an honest book for any World War II buff, history lovers, action journey enthusiasts, and really, anyone who simply loves an honest scan. and since one in every of the most characters during this story may be a girl who enlisted within the WAC, i feel it might be equally fascinating for each men and ladies. 2 thumbs up for this nice book that left me blurry eyed this morning once "just another page" kept me up the higher a part of the night to complete it.
